We're Live!

Yesterday marked the official start of the 2011-2012 Collegian Mentoring Program for Business staff and alumni.

Mentees: If you haven't taken the opportunity to reach out to your Mentor please make the effort to touch base this week. The success of the relationship with your Mentor depends largely on your initiative in order to achieve the goal(s) you want to work on during the program. Each of you submitted your resume to aid in matching. A great ice breaker is to send a copy to your Mentor so they can learn more about you.

Mentors: While Mentees will be proactive in connecting with you, please feel free to reach out to them if you prefer. We encourage during the first couple of conversations with your Mentee to create a schedule and discuss the goals and expectations of each other to start the program off on the right foot.

For Everyone: Should you have any questions, concerns, comments, complaints, suggestions, etc please do not hesitate to contact us at CollegianMentoring@gmail.com. Outside of this blog we are very hands off and won't help address any problems until you make us aware of one.

I'm very excited to hear some great mentoring stories over the next few months!

Seeking Guest Contributors for The Daily Collegian Mentoring Blog

The blog is getting a makeover. And we need your creative input.

This year, we plan to utilize our blog as an additional mentoring tool by updating the site with industry news and internship / entry-level job resources for students. It will still serve as a means of communicating program news, but we hope to include greater discussions and more voices.

We are currently seeking individuals interested in contributing content to the blog. You don’t have to be a mentor to participate. All TDC business division alumni are encouraged to submit a post (or two). Our goal is to provide guest commentary that offers relevant professional advice from people who have successfully made the transition from The Collegian to their careers.

Here are the basics:

•Topics can include industry news, career advice, personal stories, professional resources, etc.
•Entries can be in text, audio, video, or infographic format.
•Participation is 100% voluntary. You can submit one post all year or as many as your schedule permits.

Based on student involvement, it’s clear the staff wants to hear from you. We’d love the opportunity to share your advice to a growing, eager audience!

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let us know at CollegianMentoring@gmail.com. We plan to feature guest contributors as early as mid-November.

Aren’t makeovers fun?

Collegian Mentor Matches Released!

Happy Monday!

Today we are releasing the 2011-2012 Collegian Mentoring Matches for the Business Division. Thanks so much for everyone that applied. We were able to match all students with a talented group of alumni.

But wait, there's MORE!

This year we are giving Alumni an additional opportunity to mentor in a larger capacity. Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for an update from Kelsey Thompson on this great new initiative.
